My name is Hrachya Tokmajyan, I am an Armenian Canadian Writer and Director who tells stories of interpersonal and sociocultural struggle through the language of folktales and mythology. I believe that folktales and mythology have had and will continue to have a hand in shaping the future of humanity, our values of morality, relationships, and our collective subconscious. I take inspiration from art films and contemporary folk horror to craft stories that represent Armenian myths and folktales close to my heart.
I have written, directed, and produced multiple folktale like short films in the past, I am in development of my first feature length film, an Armenian Folk Horror project set to shoot in fall of 2026. Recent selections include "Mother" which premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival in September of 2025, and "The Woodsman" at the Pomegranate Film Festival in Toronto. Produced works include "Luar Nikah" which premiered at the Edmonton International Film Festival in 2025, and "At the Door" which will begin it's festival run in lat 2026.
